I'm looking into doing the buell headlight conversion..since cash is tight I found one online that doesn't look like stock connectors to our bike..I was wondering if you guys think it would be an easy mod to make these work on the fz

I assume the white connector is the one that would match up with stock lowbeam..but I would like some input before I purchase...the price seems right and the lights are off an 05 xb9.

any ideas?

Looks like you could use the single white connector... but if it was me, I would cut all the excess wires, and wire the stock FZ6 headlight harnesses into the black/white wires coming off of each headlight. That would be easier.

that is what I was thinking..just cut them all and match up the white/blk to lowbeam and blue/blk to highbeam kinda make my own harness for them..that shouldn't cause any real problems right? lol Also, i'm not sure how hard it would be to change the bulbs in those projectors..they look effin sealed

Shouldn't cause any problems as long as the polarity isn't reversed and the connections are secure.

Not sure how hard it would be to change out a projector bulb. It does look like it's sealed pretty well.

I can see myself blowing up a perfectly good wiring harness doing this

Just be careful, take you time, and be consistent with both sides. I don't remember the colors of the FZ6 headlight harnesses, but if you look, they should at least have the same color for the ground wire. Just wire the ground wire from the FZ6 headlight harness to the black wire on your headlight and wire up the other wire from the FZ6 harness to the white wire from your headlight. Then repeat that process on the other side.

Even if you happen to get it mixed up, more than likely it will blow a fuse before taking out the entire harness. Most likely, it just won't work if that happens, and you'll just need to switch the harness wiring.

Once you get in there and you see that there are only a few connections, it's not that bad. It sounds much worse than it actually is. Think about it, it's just wiring 2 headlight harnesses to 2 headlights. Cut off the FZ6 headlight harnesses and wire them directly to these headlights. You could even use a fancy connector if you wanted, to make it easier if you ever switch out the headlights.

You can't hurt anything by swapping the positive and negative wires on the bulb, so I would not worry at all... cut and solder and wrap with electrical tape and you're done.

About changing a bulb, aren't the 4 bolts I see on the back of each projector holding the housing to the projector? Looks like you could get in there by unbolting them...
