How to-frame plugs

First of all, you spend hours searching the forum for any relevant topics

Get the idea and start searching all the big DIY shop of your town
After not finding any appropriate plus, you start searching the internet .

Some days later, you visit your next door small DIY shop and find the PERFECT plugs!!!
Buy all its stock, have enough plus for a hundred FZ6’s and run to your garage.
Everyone thinks you are crazy f or spending the night there but it worth it!!!


Fist the right side, no much work needed there, a little bit sanding and after that
I burned it a little with a lighter to get a smooth finish

The left side was a nightmare!!
After a couple of tries I got it right!!

Total cost -2Euros=2.9USD
Tools needed-a cutter, sand paper and a lighter

I DIY my frame plugs too from a stopper of a sewing machine, which I got from a hardware shop too..

It is such an easy mod there is no need to buy it.

The right one fits like a glove and there was no need to put anything extra to stay in.
The left one, because of the strange shape, i put a little pit of white silicone sealant just to be on the safe side.

If there is a need to take them off, for the right one i'll use a screw driver to get it out.The left one i believe i'll have to drill it, and then use something to put it inside and take it off.

I used silicone because i believe it will get off and wont leave any marks on the frame

I bought them from a DIY shop,
They are plastic plugs, you put them under chair legs or to close a tube

Good job. I was thinking about doing this for a while.

What size plug did you get? By that I mean what was the dimension in mm?

I really wish someone would just sell these. I really don't feel like freezing my arse off in my garage sanding plastic down....

The right one is 42mm inside and 49mm outside
Left one is 34mm inside and 39mm outside

The inside diameter doesn't really matters because you can fix it with a cutter, like i did.

I'll try visiting the DIY shop again and ask the seller there who is the supplier and i'll contact him.

Dropped into Clark Rubber here in Melbourne on the way home tonight. They have all sorts of rubber caps, plugs and extrusions. Its where I got the material for the tight**** grip puppies.
They had exactly what I needed. Thanks for the photos, it made it super easy. a little smear of silastic holds them in perfectly. they look pretty good. I'll try and get a few pics in the morning and post later in the day. Bought a spare set of plugs while I was there, all up$8.80

as promised, a few pics of decidedly dubious quality, sorry bout that.

so I smeared some silastic on the inner edges of the plugs, which turned out is only just enough, I could move them both quite easily this morning so I will re-do that tonight before the vibration wiggles them out and I lose them, but they are holding in ok for now.


Makes the whole side view a bit neater I think
