I got an email from the track day club I ride with and they are looking for instructors. Submitted my riding resume and got asked to come and try out. Need to get my bike out of the shop however.

The cool thing is I'd get free track days :D and tires at cost. :D

Thanks guys. The try outs are Wednesdays, not a good day for me as I don't have any vacation or sick time with my new job yet. I mentioned that to the owner of the club and she said she'd work with me.

The key to this is not speed but smoothness, consistency of line and the ability to coach. I've been an instructor/teacher for 20 years so I can do that part.

What I will need to do is totally change to the newer riding style, but most new riders simply need to learn line and smoothness. The hanging off technique comes after that.

Hey, do you think I could try out too? I'm sure that their track days would benefit from a "what not to do" example.

Good luck with that! Sounds like it'll be a sweet little weekend job.

and :welcome: home?!? (I'm assuming you're back in the States.)

No pay with this job, just track time and tires, which isn't a bad trade at all.

Yup, back home. Nice to be back and out of one of the armpits of the world.

Dang man out at Harris Hill Road I assume? That'd be really cool. Of course if you get up there, you might have to ban me and Fred as a type intervention for our own good :D

G'luck man!

Good luck Hellgate! I would really love to take a good riders class. I have been riding for about fifteen years total but if we ever stop learning we're dead, right? Too bad I'm so far away, I'd sign up if you were the instructor. How much does a class cost anyway?

Good luck! I can tell you from experience that being a riding instructor is one of the best jobs in the world!!! There is nothing quite like seeing your students improve and get faster and more confident, and getting to work outside, riding motorcycles, surrounded by cool people isn't so bad either :)

Man I've gotten nowhere on this. My new job keeps me buried, and the try out days are typically on Wednesdays. To top it off the weather has been very wet and cold this winter. Usually we have great winters. :( I'll see what I can do in six weeks or so, when Spring get here. :D At least the bike is well sorted.
