I got this idea from another forum I'm on. I'm sure some people will come in and make lots of jokes... which is fine... but it is interesting and helpful to hear what other riders want to work on for their season. Here are some of my goals.

Track:

-Do at least 4 track days, $$ permitting.
-Be smoother / more relaxed.
-Brake harder/later., Power harder post-apex.
-Turn-in quicker (reach traction limits / max lean faster).
-Work on left-handers.
-Don't crash.
-Learn my new bike

Street:

-Ride more (if possible).
-Find more people in the area I enjoy riding with.
-Find more twisties.

General:

-Learn the ins and outs of FZ6 Maintenance
-find complete lower fairings for the 07 FZ6
-Post whore all winter ;)

I agree with all of it. Sounds good to me especially the maintainance part.
Can you just explain the last one to uslol?

- keep the rubber side down

2008 Goals:

Ride as often as possible in places where there are as few as possible with the understanding that crashing is not an option. Anything less would seem counterproductive.

This is always a good idea...

****************************************

Track --

Keep the "take baby steps" thing in my head always

Continue to improve my body positioning

Brake later

Eliminate any/all coasting that tends to creep in

Improve my blipping and slipping under the hardest of braking

Improve passing strategies and techniques that don't involve braking

Make some kick-*** videos

Dirt --

Go on some longer adventure rides, possibly overnight w/ camping

Ride with my buddies Jake and Gregg-O in upstate NY

Hit up the local Chicagoland ride spots with friends at least once a month

ride controlled wheelies as opposed to just power wheelies

get better in the deep/loose sand

learn more about 2-stroke maintenance and fix my brakes!

continue to mod my bike so that it is quieter

Street --

Get my bike back to street legal

Show my fiance' a good time up in WI several times while being very safe again this year

be mature always

get the fiance's parents to do at least one long ride with us on their goldwing

help my newbie friend become a safer street rider

go up to WI with just the guys as much as possible

***********************************************

I would replace "don't crash" with "ride within my limits / don't push it too hard too soon / take baby steps" because it will eventually happen at the track...your best bet is to focus DIRECTLY on the things that can prevent you from crashing as opposed to making "not crashing" a goal in and of itself. Anyway...just a thought.

Craig007, we should definitly meet up at some point. I should be able to assist you in meeting some of the goals on your list. I think I still owe you a beer anyway.

Basically just post as much as much and as often as possible ( I need something to do while the snow flies)

Sounds like some good goals, keep them coming

Man you need an alternate toy cause you don't know what you are missing. Get a snowmobile or four-wheeler, they're a riot.......

1. Work on my slow-speed maneuvering

2. Get skilled enough that I'm not thinking about operating the bike, but rather concentrating on the external situation (I'd say I'm halfway there...)

3. Get my FZ-6 a stable-mate (still like that Triumph Scrambler! )

4. Do a real tour! Or two. Or six!

5. Some Two-Brothers carbon-fiber cans, w0Ot!

6. Attend the World Superbike race scheduled for the end of May here in Utah at the new Larry Miller Sportspark (I've never seen a bike race live before)

7. Keep the shiny side up for another year!

My goals: to successfully dodge the tin tops & to stay upright...;)

Yes, that is about the extent of my goals also. People talk about improving at the track. It has been 30 years since I have been on a track! My goal is to ride as much as I can.

Overall:
-Pay off atleast half of what I have left on the bike
-Own some Dainese Gear
-Own a Shoei X-11 or an Arai Rx-7
-Get on the track
-Lose 40lbs for myself and for the track

Track:
-Get on the track for once
-Get on the track more than once during the season
-Stay on the track and off the sand/dirt/gravel

Street:
-Find better rodes in north Jersey
-Stay alive
-Enjoy myself
-Rack up the miles
-Maybe make it to the Gap

Getting on the track is slowly but surely becoming a reality. I'll have all my gear I need for the track, once I pick up my new Shoei RF1000. Then I'm just gonna share a trailer with some friends and hopefully get there.

One thing I'm really looking forward to is a friend of mine works for a dealership that rents out tracks. Notably the NJMotorsports park, which is scheduled to open June/July 2008. He basically told me, show up in leathers and you can ride my bike. By that time it will either be a Triumph 675 or a Ducati 848. I'm excited as much as I want to take the FZ6 on the track, it will be nice to finally ride a real sportbike (no offense to the FZ6, but sometimes I wanna feel like Speedracer and I can't do that with the riding position)

so yeah, goals... :p

Figured that it is about time to revive this thread and see how many of us accomplished any of our goals that we had for this season.

Track:

-Do at least 4 track days, $$ permitting.(I got to do one...)
-Be smoother / more relaxed.(Absolutely)
-Brake harder/later., Power harder post-apex. (Track day in the rain, no pushing the bike...)
-Turn-in quicker (reach traction limits / max lean faster). (Track day in the rain, no pushing the bike...)
-Work on left-handers. (Yes, i am just as comfortable turning left as right now)
-Don't crash.(yep, kept the sticky side down)
-Learn my new bike (got plenty of miles and plenty of experience on the new bike, still love it!)

Street:

-Ride more (if possible). (I won the mileage contest for 2008, so yes!)
-Find more people in the area I enjoy riding with. (met some great people from here and got to go on some good rides with them)
-Find more twisties. (since moving i have found a lot of new great riding roads that i am "forced" to take every day to and from work... it is terrible...)

General:

-Learn the ins and outs of FZ6 Maintenance (getting there, hoping to learn more this winter, but so far i have done all the maintenance)
-find complete lower fairings for the 07 FZ6 (found them, but can't afford them... darn vague goal)
-Post whore all winter ;)(5200+ posts and going strong)
