Ok folks, the 2009 Moto GP season is but upon us, with the season kicking off in Qatar on April 12.

So i thought that a tipping comp, re who will win this years Moto GP, 250CC, & 125CC World Championship's, and which Manufacturer will take out the Manufacturers Championship in each class.

So all you need to do, is take a look at the provisional entry list's for each class listed below, and pick which riders you think will come 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in the Championship in each class, and just 1st for manufacturer in each class, and at seasons end, the forum members that get the most results right, will win 100000 credits from me at seasons end!

Oh and to help seperate people at the end of the season, if there are a few of us with the same results, there is an additional "bogey" question

What will be the Championship winners total points score in each class?

If there is more than 1 forum member with the same score, then each forum member will get 100000 credits each!

Really, it's all a bit of fun, and should only take you a few minutes to make your choices.

I will also endeavour to run a round by round tipping competition, where there will be a prize of 20000 credits for the winner of each roundfs tiping comp...but that will be a seperate thread!

I heard CASEY STONER is getting a frame that's made ENTIRELY out of carbon fiber.

I just double checked and confirmed it: The GP9 has a body that's COMPLETELY made out of carbon fiber. I think CASEY STONER will get 1st place in the MotoGP championship. He'll do it with over 300 points.

Thanks for a good laugh first thing in the morning! You expect Stoner to make the equivalent of 14 wins in a 17 race season???

I dont expect Casey to do anything, but i hope he does that well! That's how i Aussies operate, we boldly stand behind our Hero's, and hope that they can match our enthusiasm!

It's a proven fact that Aussie's are THE most succesful bunch of International racers, as a nation in the last 20 years of International Road Racing...Gardner, Doohan, Stoner, Bayliss, Corser, Pitt, Vermeulen, Muggeridge, have all won World Championships, oh and then there is Kevin Curtain, Broc Parkes, Anthony West, Darryle Beattie, Kevin McGee, Gary Mc Coy...who are all proven multiple winners at International level...

Oh and then there's all the National titles Aussies have won abroad, Mladin - 6 AMA titles, Corser - AMA title, Bayliss - AMA & BSB title's...oh and dont forget Stephan Merriman, and Chad Reid, on dirt bikes, oh and the Speedway Boys, oh and a certain bloke who can jump further, and higher than anyone else in the World.

Us Aussies like to take on the World & Win...and i have no doubt that Casey Stoner is capable of winning 14 races this year!!!

Mick did 11, Casey did 10 or 11 a couple of years ago...Freakin Mick Doohan won 5 World Championships on one leg!

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!

PS: By the way, thanks for stirring the pot...i love to get stuck in!

Oh, and one more thing...350 points in a season...no stress for Mr Stoner...

Results 2007
MotoGP
World Championship

MotoGP
Pos. Rider Num. Motorcycle Nation Team Points
1 Casey STONER 27 Ducati AUS Ducati Marlboro Team 367

He does not need to win 14 races to get 350 points...just about 11 or so, plus decent point scoring finishes in the other 6 races...

I am the first one to enjoy close tight racing, which is one of the reasons I love watching SBK, so I am happy when there is no single rider dominating the class. Having said that Ben Spies could be a runaway but this is a MotoGP thread, and we have a season ahead with the potential for some great racing. Stoner, Rossi, Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Dovizioso and others all have the potential to win the championship.

But.... you dismiss The Doctor at your peril. I honestly believe Rossi will retain his title.

would never dismiss the doctor...he is a living legend, but Casey has the goods and the nad's to match him...should make fir some more epic tussles!

As for ben spies, he is very very good...if he manages to stay upright, I reckon he will run away with the SBK title...he has the bike, and the skills...Mat Mladin rates him as the best racer he has ever raced against...that's a big call from a bloke who has won multiple championships in Australia and the USA, as well as riding in the golden era of GP racing...

Bumpity bump bump...hmmm, I thought that with over 6000 members on this forum, that at least a few more people would have a dip at picking some winners!

It's only the WORLD'S premier motorbike racing series, after all!

I don't follow the 250 and 125 very closely, so I'll stick to MotoGP. The question is do I pick the riders I would like to see win the championship, or the ones I think will win.
First, the ones I'd like to see win:
1. Loris Capirossi
2. Sete Giberneau
3. Chris Vermeulen

Manufacturer's Title: Suzuki

The riders I think will win:
1. Valentino Rossi (one more time)
2. Jorge Lorenzo
3. Casey Stoner

Manufacturer's Title: Yamaha

Honestly, I'm paying more attention to World Superbike this year. Spies is a lot of fun to watch! But...my MotoGP predictions are as follows:

1. Casey Stoner - He messed up so much last year that I think he's going to pull it together and take it.
2. Valentino Rossi - Who else? Yes, he is amazing. But I think he was really lucky last year that Stoner had so many offs and I think this year will make for closer racing between those two.
3.Loris Capirossi - Not a safe bet, but that guy seems driven this year. Seems like that Suzuki is where it needs to be as well.

Factory - Ducati

I also don't follow any of the other classes, so that's the extent of my prediction :D Peace!
