Unfortunately, that is exactly why some sign up to public forums. It is a selling scam. Some groups have automated systems that constantly create fictitious names that automatically search and sign up to all accessible forums. They then constantly send spam posts selling things. They can sometimes be difficult to get rid of. Another forums group, that I belong to, had to set access up to their forums where no one could post without first being approved by the Admins. Once the junior member was approved, then they could post all they wanted. If they started any trouble, like selling things, then the Admins. kicked their ability to post. I think it is a shameful marketing ploy.
