Was riding when the bike stopped out of no where and wiggled it around a bit to start back up. Trucked it home and found out one of the cables to the ignition cable had just snapped off. Going to clean up some connections what can I do with the loose cable?

Did it "snap off" or did it come loose from the spark plug boot? The OEM spark plug boots were known to come loose in the early years. No one really talks about it much anymore, but there are threads where the suggestion is to zip-tie the boot to the cable/lead.

These wires look like they may be connected to the ignition switch. I would advise you the disconnect the negative lead on the battery to prevent any shorting. There is a circuit module on the bike that has diodes that typically fail when there are short circuiting at the ignition switch wiring.

That's not factory..

Someone swapped out the ignition switch and instead of plugging
in under the battery tray, they "spliced" it in.

As there's not a lot of extra wire there, you'll either have to possibly add wire/re-attach.
OR, a real fix with no future issues, REPLACE the IGNITION SWITCH (which comes with the harness).

A bit more involved but will eliminate future issues..
