My mate who works in the trade mentioned the same thing about them changing manufacturer and these failing.

It's a recall, from their website I fitted it and it was only hand tight. The nut only helps removing it as it's in a pig of a position on the Speed Triple.

What about a triumph 1050 Tiger? I've toured a lot on my Speed Triple, amazing engine. The Tiger would give you a bit more room for a pillion.

I'll probably go midweek if I can, that way get more time to make brum brum noises when sitting on the bikes :)

I haven't ridden that area myself, but have gotten the ferry from Puttgarden and stayed in Lübeck when I was a kid with my family :) Be interested to see where you end up going.
