I prepped my FZ6 for its annual trailer ride from Vancouver to Osoyoos in southern BC last week, where we vacation in our RV for a couple of weeks.
I went for a quick ride after unloading the bike, and when I got back from the 50km's or so ride, was horrified to find oil covering the left side...
I'd never noticed any "lateral" or side-to-side movement in my throttle until after I replaced my handlebars with FZ6R bars. I also installed OEM grips again, the throttle side comes complete with the throttle cam.
There is a large diameter, thin plastic washer installed on the throttle...
Well, I bit the bullet today and installed the factory db killers into my Scorpions. I put it off for a month because I just couldn't bring myself to drill the single hole underneath each tailpipe where the securing bolt goes through.
The db killers aren't too unsightly, they sit inside the...
I finally got around to "installing" the DB killers into my Scorpions yesterday. They are supposed to be secured with a single screw, which means drilling a 3/16" hole in the underside of each tailpipe.
However, they are such a good fit that I first pushed them in and then fired up the bike to...
Does anyone know (for sure) what the differences in spec (particularly the engine and engine management system) are between the 2006 European version FZ6 (the 98hp model) and the US/Canadian spec FZ6 (if any)?
I'm looking for opinions on hard vs soft armour that is inserted in most modern jackets and pants (shoulder/elbow/knee).
While it may seem on the surface that hard armour offers more protection than soft (dense foam CE) armour, is this really the case?
Any and all opinions most welcome! :)...
If any Canadians have installed a Speedo Healer on an 06 (or earlier) FZ6, could you please LMK if it gives you the capability of switching your speedo display to MPH from KPH and back again? As you know, the 06 Canadian model FZ6's cannot display MPH, just KPH.
I was in a bit of a hurry this morning when I left home on my FZ6, and suddenly realized about 20 seconds into the ride that I hadn't fastened my RF-1000's chin strap. (that was a first...). Anyhow, at the first opportunity, I signalled right and pulled over to the side of the road to fasten...
I was getting my bike ready for storage this morning, and decided to clean up the exhaust headers. I used a product called "Autosol", which (back in the 1960's) used to be called "Solvol Autosol". Very magical stuff that used to make my Triumphs and BSA's gleam.
I applied the Autosol cream...
Has anyone contacted either the Scorpion Distributor in the US or the UK supplier and received a response? I have emailed both several times without success.
If anyone has had a response, could you please LMK who responded and their email address? :)
I'm looking for the elusive decibel...
My son and I are going to ride from Vancouver to Osoyoos on July 12th. It's about a 450 kilometer ride (about 300 or so miles) through some of the nicest country in Southern BC. He'll be on his Boulevard M109R LE. I'm pretty much all set with my MotoPak luggage (which fits on my FZ6 like it...
Here's a few pics of my TomTom GO 720 installed on my FZ6 using a RAM mount (finally...I've been putting it off for a couple of months). I also installed a Power Outlet in the left inner fairing. It's a marine power outlet socket that has a nice waterproof flap when not in use. I took the...
I have Joe Rocket hard armour and soft armour. I'm trying to decide which would offer the best protection in a crash/tumble. Hard armour seems to make more sense, but I often wonder if the armour moved during a tumble, it might cause more damage than protection.
Any thoughts on this? :)
My Shoei RF-1000 in size L has always been very comfortable....quite snug around my head, but has always been just a tad loose against my face, unlike my size L Shark helmet, which is quite tight around my cheeks. I did try a Medium, but couldn't even get it over my ears. The RF-1000 comes with...
After installing my Scorpion exhaust, I found that my FAZR6 FE kit was indeed compatible, but didn't "connect" to the license plate support kit that was supplied by Scorpion.
After much deliberation, I ordered this kit, as it has the 2 vertical pre-drilled holes at each side that attach directly...
I don't think this has been posted before, but it's a dandy calculator for messing about with sprockets.

I decided to buy a heated vest yesterday; it's a Blackjack brand (made right here in BC) and cost $99. The sales guy at the bike shop recommended a snug fit (I weigh 175 lb and bought a 42" chest size), and to wear it over a t-shirt as the "2nd layer". It has a regular SAE plug, so I just...
