    Track Day

Very nice! Worth watching all the way through just to see your confidence building on every subsequent lap. Loved the minor "pucker moment" at 14:22. :D Been there, done that.

    Crashed the FZ6 today

    How are you?

    Pain in left elbow

Just a thought...but I can tell you from experience that the OEM bars on an FZ6 are as soft as butter...they can bend quite easily. I also developed pain in my wrists and elbows until I swapped my bars for FZ6R bars. They're not so radical a change as the FZ1 bars; they cant forward about 1"...

Michelin Pilot Road 2's or 3's - Revisit

I inspect my tires regularly in any case, so I'm confident I'll spot any abnormalities before they develop into a bad situation. In any case, I'm sure that they'll be just fine. I'm assured that Michelin's manufacturing facility in Thailand is state-of-the-art, and rubber does grow there...

Michelin Pilot Road 2's or 3's - Revisit

Made in Thailand (no surprise there...) in Feb 2012. Thanks....I'll adjust my pressures down to those specs.

Michelin Pilot Road 2's or 3's - Revisit

I'm 180 lbs....probably close to 190 with my gear on all up. I set my previous tires (OEM Dunlops D252's) to 33 front, 37 rear. The fellow who installed them advised me to set the pressures on the PR3's a little higher. I'll drop the pressures back to 33/37 and see how the tires perform. If...

Michelin Pilot Road 2's or 3's - Revisit

What pressures are you PR3 users putting in your tires? I'm currently running what was installed in my new PR3's which is 37 front, 40 rear. It makes for a bit of a hard ride, but man oh man....what a difference in handling over the OEM Dunlop D252's that came off my bike after 11,500 km's...

Height 5'8": FZ1 or FZ6R handle bar, that is the question!

Don't sell the FZ6R bars short....They address the flaw in the standard FZ6 bars which was too much pull back. If you're 5'8" tall or less, you might find the FZ1 bars stretch you out too much.

Adventure bikes are for wimps! (FZ6 dirt and gravel thread)

I took my FZ6 "off road" once (onto a soft dirt shoulder) and promptly dropped it on its left side. I'll leave the off-roading to the adventure bike crowd. My scuffed stator cover still mocks me.:spank:

What in the world is this thing?

By coincidence, I was following a Can-Am for about a half hour yesterday in my Subaru. The Can-Am looks very awkward from the rear, very awkward indeed. You get the impression that the "rider" is not at all comfortable on this thing. It seems to wander quite a bit in its lane, so that must be...

    Olive Oil

The ancient Romans used olive oil as soap, so there really is nothing new under the sun. They'd mix it with a bit of sand when they really needed to scrub off Barbarian bits after a battle. Wouldn't recommend mixing it with sand for chain cleaning, however.:D

What is the best Handle Bar Mod?

Nope...nothing "extra" needed. The FZ6R bars install exactly the same as the standard FZ6 bars. Everything swaps over perfectly.

What is the best Handle Bar Mod?

I'm British Standard Issue 5'8". :D In your case, you may want to try the FZ6R bars....while it's a subtle difference, you'll find them very comfortable after a longer ride than the original FZ6 bars as they straighten out your wrists. I also found that my elbows aren't drawn inwards as...

What is the best Handle Bar Mod?

Well, I can tell you that the FZ6R bars certainly eased the pain in my wrists. It was money well spent. FZ1 bars would definitely stretch me (I'm 5'8", so most likely you as well) out too much. OTOH, the "R" bars are a subtle shift forward (no more than 1"), but with straighter wrists. I...

What is the best Handle Bar Mod?

Sorry, Zargof.....the old bars were bent due to incorrect tying down in a trailer and I disposed of them. That was the reason I decided to replace them, and chose the FZ6R bars instead. What I can tell you is that the profile (both viewed from above and in front) is almost identical except the...

What is the best Handle Bar Mod?

It really depends upon how tall you are...I'm 5'8" with a 5'9" wingspan with arms outstretched. I find the FZ1 bars stretch me out just a bit too much and put too much weight on my arms and wrists...even the new FZ6R bars pull my upper body forward enough to notice. It's a nice "sporty"...

What is the best Handle Bar Mod?

I didn't want too much of a change with my standard FZ6 bar height, so I went with the FZ6R bars. They are the same height, but angle forward at the ends by about 1" compared to the original FZ6 bars. Made a world of difference, no more wrist and finger cramps and they have a much more natural...

    Scorpion Exo: 700 Vs. 1000??

I replaced my trusty old RF1000 with an EXO1000 at the beginning of this riding season. I usually wear a Large, but find the Scorpion Large to be closer to a Medium. Things I like:- -drop down visor...it takes a bit of getting used to at first as it doesn't seem to come down far enough, and the...

What would you "upgrade" your FZ6 to?

I must say that the new 2012 Ducati Monster Evo 1100 is a gorgeous bike....however, if I did pull the trigger on a Duke, it would probably be the Monster 796.

Has your bike ever hit the ground?

Well.... Yesterday the unthinkable happened. I dropped my bike on its side. I really should have seen it coming. I was riding with my son's Father-in-Law on his Bandit 1250S when he decided to turn off the road and over a cattle grid to talk to some off-roaders. I stopped right at the...
