Right under 40 on average, however I attribute that not only to my big arse (even down 55 lbs this year, I am still a big boy on this bike), but I also enjoy riding higher RPM's so I can be heard (and help to be 'seen') since FZ6's unmodified are quiet as a kitten (to my ear, I can hear ground...
I can agree with this to the end of time. I sat on and rode around quite a few bikes in this range before I pulled the trigger. Most comfy ride for a 6'4" guy I could find.
Sat on my bud's R1 a few weeks ago. I don't think I could even make it around the corner on a SS. My knees are where...
Lots of other good places just south of the Dragon to ride on here in North GA and into N/S Carolina: Blood Mountain, Wolfpen Gap, Blue Ridge Parkway, all come to mind. Hope that helps add to the fun list. :)
Hey there fellow better blue Atlantean! :D
It sounds like you have ruled out the helmet mount and I don't blame you on the locations you mentioned (top seems dangerous to me, side seems like you'd get wind resistance for sure) - have you seen folks mount to the chin? I got a gopro as a gift...
09, purchased with 27k on the clock in Feb '14. Closing in on 31k now, purrs like a kitten, gets ridden in winter (Our winters are fairly mild for the most part - mid 50's afternoon temps are 'perfect').
Welcome aboard OP - you just found 'the best' forum for FZ6 riders and one of the most helpful/friendly forum groups I've ever stumbled into.
You are gonna have fun with this bike.. :D
This trip was just northeast of Jasper on 136, from the far west end of it over to Dawsonville area then back. Fun couple of hours, my virgin chicken strips are no more!
Edit: what.. No one else spotted the rare bird that we found? ;)
Great thread, so I will pose a Q here; My pipes were likely never cleaned when I bought the bike last year (filthy, looked like I'd been out supermotoing with it!), and I just hit them with an hours worth of elbow grease and Mothers mag. The 1 and 4 pipes are pretty decent, 2 and 3 (getting...
For the right bike, sometimes you can make an exception. ;)
Similar bikes (clean, even newer, 08, 09) will be seen for $3500 or a little less, with less mileage - but hey, when the right one finds you, sometimes it's worth answering the call, so to speak! $3500 isn't out of the ballpark, just...
Pricewise, they all seem slightly higher than last years market. Maybe that is a good thing and is saying something about the FZ6's continued draw/stability?
I'd go with the '07 - offer them $3000, and see if you can get them to bite, wouldn't go higher than $3200 for it. Don't be afraid...
Hey could you guys post a pic of the 2 windscreens you mentioned on your bikes? I'm interested in this thread Q as well - wanna get something to replace my stock one as it's pitted a bit and starting to get that 'glaze' to it.
The glare is killing a 1 in front (engine temp) - I'd parked it and was inside for a bit, and realized I needed to go out and get a snapshot before I forgot! Trees are in full bloom here in GA. Blah
Not as yet. Pretty sure that's why I got it around 27k on the clock (previous owner I...
Needless to say I haven't put all 30k on her (close to 3k) since I got her last year and got through my 1st season of riding. Cranks effortlessly, no issues whatsoever - happy camper am I!
Don't mind the pollen, it comes early this year!
Hey back - welcome to the fold! :)
I hear you on life - it delayed me getting on my first bike as well for many years. FZ6 was the one for me after 'sitting' on quite a few and test riding a few friends comparable bikes (VFR800, SV650, FZ1).
First few months, I felt the same way - am I...
Hey there, I think this link might help show some of the differences - mainly HP/TQ differences between the 'standard' and 'S2' versions, with slight variations of ABS availability on some of the Euro models.
FZ6 Wiki
The US has the 'S2' and I do believe Europe had both models at...
