Just over a year ago I sold my 05 FZ6 to a friend…And then I just bought it back from him yesterday! He’s moving to Florida, and decided to get a brand new ride down there. I called dibs and now I’m back to having a 2 bike garage.
However, I am immediately faced with some troubleshooting...
Seem to be a few of these posts lately. After being a two bike owner for about 8 months, I have sold the FZ6 in favor of the BMW F850 GS.
As most say...I will probably regret it. If that happens I'll get another! But life is short, and for now I'm moving on. The good news is I sold her...
I'm a Yamaha guy. Always have been. First bike was a 1983 XS400 Maxim. I've found Yamaha's are easy to work on and parts are available, generally.
Love my 05 FZ6. I've put 50K miles on it since I bought in 2012. Perfectly set up for touring, camping, etc, and does everything I want it to...
I adjusted the exhaust valves a couple of weeks ago, 5 of 8 were OOS tight, others were close. After adjustment, lash was middle of the spec. link to forum post (#87) --> Valve adjustment
Rode through a tank of fuel, calculated thirty something MPG's. Couldn't be right, I thought. Performed...
I recently upgraded my turn signals to the Yamaha LED Blinker Plus lights (Thanks FinalImpact !). I love the look, but wasn't thrilled with how different the blu-ish white LED's were compared to my yellow-ish halogen headlamps.
So I did a bit of research and bought a pair of LED H4's...
For Christmas this year I bought myself a shiny new thermostat (part # 5SL-12410-00-00) for about $20 on Ron Ayers.
I was convinced mine was stuck open, since I've been riding in the cold lately and it takes forever to get her warmed up, and fuel mileage has definitely taken a hit. In fact...
Scorpion EYA70SEO Stainless Steel Oval Exhaust on sale. Current price $512.68 (normally high $600's).
Carbon Fiber is only $504, and Titanium only $508.
Looks like only one of each style at this price though. I've grown to like the quiet stocker, so I won't be purchasing...
Finished what turned out to be an amazing evening ride last night, and noticed these lines running along the tires.
Lines are there on both front and rear, not quite in the center of the tire. I can feel them if I run a finger nail across perpendicular to the line. They go all the way...
Link below to Consumer Reports article on the Whistler helmet mounted brake light. Looks pretty cool, and as they say in the article, anything that makes us more visable is a good thing:

Planning a long ride that builds on one from last year that five of us from this forum took.
(You can see details of that ride here: August 16-18, 2013 - Skyline Dr, Blue Ridge Pkwy, and West VA)
That was a three day tour, and was such a great time that we're doing a longer one this year...
Came across this story and video today. Not exactly sure what started this altercation, but it makes me sick.

Noticed a bit of oil on my right toe the other day. Inspection revealed the plug on the oil pump cover had signs of oil leakage. I removed the plug and noticed there was no O-ring present. I've had the bike nearly two years, never had this plug out - so obviously I've been without it since...
Just an FYI, Motorcycle-Superstore.com is running a 5% off sale on Bridgestone and Michelin tires. Free shipping too.

Not a huge deal, but if you're buying a set of PR2's as I did, you'll save $13 and change. Prices without the coupon...
Two nights ago I removed my rear wheel to inspect the wheel bearings. While the wheel was off I did all kinds of great maintenance, degreasing and lubing the chain, greasing the axle, removed both chain adjusters for cleaning.
My chain adjusters have always been missing the second nut since...
We've all had the issue where you roll up to a traffic signal and the wire loop sensor fails to recognize the FZ, forcing you to either run the light, wait for a cager to trip it, or perform some other maneuver. Well I've got a new issue that may become more prevalent as it is adopted further...
Annual CroMag camping trip in Silver lake State Park. Thread is on ADV rider site, link appears at the bottom of this post.
Just wondering if any fellow 6'ers were heading that way. This will be the first time I put mine in "touring" mode, and by far the longest ride I will have taken in...
