I wouldn't wear polarized just because I find there tends to be a little bit of light diffraction when wearing them underneath my helmet. I usually use sport sunglasses with plastic frames.

I can understand the question of lowering the value by switching in an 04 frame but I don't plan to worry about the resale value until I actually have it running, plus wanting to hold onto it for awhile is what made me decide to try fixing it up in the first place.
