    M/C upgrade suggestions

Been a while... there's a very detailed list in the other house on the R779. Should also have some info here somewhere... All I remember is Intake 102 & Exhaust 105 degree of lobe center. I do not have the fuel maps anymore... since I got the FZ09 instead.

Hands still get numb even with looser grip

I struggled a lot on the FZ6R with vibration, even with the heavy bar ends. Try the ProGrip 714. Need to do a bit of trimming since they are dirt bike grip but the diameter is a bit bigger and they damp vibration really good.

Thinking of trading FZ6 for Ninja Z1000SX (sport tour) or FJ09 (MT09)

I would go with the FJ. That engine is so awesome! Torque on tap all the time. It gets some pretty killer MPG considering the power you can get out of it. My FZ09 gets 45-47MPG even with the exhaust & tune at 70MPH. I have a crush on the 1K Versys, beautiful bike. But if you think hitting the...

R6 header with side exit muffler

FZ6R exhaust are 1 3/8" on the primary tube if that can help. If I had a spare set of headers all modded we could give it a shot...

    FZ6 is a beast!

Good read overall. My 09 peak at 111HP at the rear wheel but I have 60-63 Ft.Lb of torque from 5K all the way to 11K on a 400 lbs bike! I did 3 track days last year. You have no idea how many 600s I slingshot coming off the corner. I even keep up with them up to 140 MPH.

    Cam chain wear check

I still have the old one. I can measure it. Any specific measurement over X links? The top pic was from one end, and the bottom pic is the other end. I tried the best that i could to line them up... but we clearly see it stretch quite a bit IMO.

    Cam chain wear check

Just wanted to share... FZ6R with 48K miles. Timing chain... from left To right. Stretch almost 2mm on 13" or so. Not sure of the max tolerance but glad I change it.

    Hi everyone!

    Shaky front end (no hands)

I did lost some wheel weight a while back on my 6R... did shake like crazy!

    Cam chain wear check

I'm approaching 50K miles mark on the FZ6R and it starting to rise some ??? How much mileage can I put on the timing chain? I need to replace the CCT again, might go manual this time and be done with it. While I'm there its not that much more work to swap the 3 gears and chain... and double...

2015 Daytona Bike Week. Day 2 (demo'd Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawi, Indian)

Glad to hear you like the FZ07. I built an exhaust kit for a 07 last year and had the opportunity to ride the bike for a week, mostly commute and a bit of freeway. I really enjoyed how light and agile the bike was. With exhaust & tune the bike pick up a nice gain at mid range... plenty of...

    WTB 5SL R6 Cams

I don't see any issues. I pound 25K miles on mine and when I swap them for back to stock (wife riding the 6R now) it looks the aame as when I put them in. Not like the cam always rub on the same spot anyway... on paper when they grind the cams the top is a bit tapper to spin the buckets so it...

    Shimming fork springs

Can't remember the fork travel on top of my head but it has more than a R1. Oil level thing is fine tuning. First you need to make sure you have the right free sag/rider sag with the proper springs. You won't compensate a wrong spring with more oil. Oil level tune the amount of spring (if you...

    Air assist fork caps!

Kind of cool idea, glad it work for you. Once you cap the fork, the air space between the cap and oil act as a air shock. As the fork colapse under braking... the spring rate increase exponentially (smaller volume of air=higher psi) So basically all you had to do is raise the oil level... would...

    Shimming fork springs

You need to aim for 10-15mm free sag with a rider sag of around 35mm. 25mm is track stuff... and still. Free sag too little = spring too soft Free sag too much = spring too hard If you want to improve the dive under braking, raise the oil level in thr fork. I will asume that you bottom out...

    FJ-09/ MT-09 TRACER Official

I clock 47 MPG all day long on my FZ09 if I milk it. That's 140ish miles. I can push 150 miles using the reserve. The FJ should clock close to 190-200 miles a tank IMO. I have that thing lately to trade in the FZ6R for a FZ07 and bolt a S-10 fuel tank on it. Some of the guys bang mid 50s MPG...

Naked vs Faired - all year round.

Just adding a little fly screen on my FZ09 made a huge difference. I still drive my FZ6R with the Puig touring screen. I get less tired on my FZ09! The fly screen greatly reduce the wind blast on my chest and the airflow is very clean around the helmet. And yoy kind of build up to it too. I...

EBC Sintered Double-H Brake Pads –Too good and not allowing the triggering of the brake switch?

I got into that issue on my ride (fz09) When i upgrade to the 320mm rotors I kept the HH pads. 1. Way too much initial bite, hard to modulate 2. I junk them on my track day... got too hot I upgraded to the Pro HH pads. Much better. Lots of braking powwa but less initial bite since the pads...
