So it's taken a while, but the Ottimoto rearsets are now on - yeeeha! Track day on Sunday so will see how they go.
My thoughts are that they are great for the money, build quality is nice and they look good too (especially with black frame, black bike).
The main reason for getting them...
Hey mate, great pics thanks. I was hoping someone else had already gone to the trouble of installing :). Mine arrived yesterday and I'm keen to fit them, so your write-up will be very helpful.
Incidentally, given the Aussie/US exchange rate, they are on ebay Aus for A$330 delivered. I bought...
I've got one more track day booked in for 6 Dec and the tracks closes pretty soon after that (13 Jan?). The track has operated for 50 years old and was sold off in 2007 for housing. Because the site is so big, race meets and track days have continued until now whilst the houses were built...
If you've ever wondered just how far an FZ6 could be pushed, check out the following footage. One of the riders at the recent track day competes in the Yamaha FZ6 cup and is currently leading the comp. He's a top bloke too - Jason Morris. I bolted my camera to his bike for a 15 minute run and I...
Er, yeah it was! Bit embarrassed about that, so I shortened the clip :shakehead: Anyways, posting more footage now of someone else on a FZ6 that has to be seen to be believed...
Hey, has anyone found a good source for rearsets, got any for sale, or have any opinion on ottimotto? I'm very keen to lose the touring pegs and would love a set of GYTR pegs as found on the Yamaha supplied cup bike, but no-one seems to sell these. Any suggestions welcomed! :welcome:
This is my footage from a track day this Wednesday. Oran Park is a brilliant circuit and only has 3 months left to run before it becomes a housing estate. Best make most use of it now!!

Perryn, you hit the nail on the head. The stock exhaust allows the bike to blend in whilst keeping revs much higher than you may feel comfortable doing with a loud pipe. Higher revs are better for bike balance (engine acts like a gyro) and keeping the 'bullet in the gun' as HavBlue puts it for...
Back to stock
Made the change tonight and I'd forgotten how much you drown out the engine with the after market exhaust note. I also found I am riding say at 6000rpm in 3rd, rather than 4000rpm in 4th, which the bike feels happier with. All personal choice at the end of the day :D
It's all very amusing. My flat mate has a Street Triple and sprayed his side stand with cheap black paint. 3 months later, it's all still there, despite the stand being kicked down and exposed to road grit etc. I was sceptical at first, but can't deny it works. I also sprayed my rad cap black...
Going back to stock
Now here's a funny think I never thought I'd do. After 6 months of having Carbon Can Co (UK mfr) pipes on my bike, sounding gloriously throaty and loud, I have decided to bolt the originals back on. Not because I have to, but the because the FZ6 is such a rev-happy bike, for...
I used the soldering iron to melt a small section of sheath off the wire, then soldered directly onto the wire. IMO, there isn't really the space to cut and splice or to use scotch connectors. Helpful hint - hang a wander lamp from the top of the tank and sit on a kitchen stool, so you can work...
It was a wet Saturday afternoon, mug of PG in hand, tinkering with the bike - the time flew by!! I don't know how much time, but could probably make the brackets in an hour, now that I've done it once. Still not seen a proper manufactured bracket that extends down between custom pipes yet...
