Watched a show where they said upshifting without the clutch is easy to do on newer sport bikes. Anyone have any experience with this on the FZ ?

There seems to be a clicking noise when riding my bike in second gear around 4500rpm. I think the sound is there in other gears and other speeds but it is most noticable in second. If I pull my cluch in the noise goes away. Anyone know the possible cause ?
