The Ohlins is a nice shock a definitely improves the bike. I had one on my '07. The issue, as all have pointed out, is the overall value of the bike. If you love the bike and plan to keep it several more years it's worth it. Otherwise, a newer/better bike is the way to go.
For me I went from...
Clearly Sir you behave like a sanctimonious, pompous ass who likes to play tough guy on the computer instead of having a lively debate while leaving name calling out of it.
American laziness? On other forums you'd be blasted out of the water over that comment, but here we are nice and polite.
I've ridden for about 35 years and owned/ridden lots of bikes. The stock throttle response of the FZ6 is THE worst I've ever experienced. I'm sorry that you've never...
^^^ I have. With R6S forks, Ohlins, rearsets set back plates, and ConvertiBars it was pretty good. All that said, that is about $2K in mods.
The bike needs a flash in a big way too, that is $450.
I punted and moved on.
OP, go to your Aprilia dealer and take a test ride on a TuonoV4 1100...
Sounds like an FZ9 might be a better option. A later model as the early ones, in Yamaha traditional, have terrible fueling and suspension.
Face it, the FZ6 was a price point bike. With that one gets compromises.
I agree, crud in the carbs. I think that petc0ck has a filter/screen in it. It probably needs to be cleaned out. Does the tank have rust in it?
If the tank is rusty you'll need to treat it with Caswell or POR, don't bother with Cream.
Lemon juice, of all things, does a great job of clean carbs.
