I'll be picking the bike up in an hour so I'll try to get a better answer.
Yes, the mileage should be down to sync, dirty injectors and some other stuff, that's not as important right now.
The CLICK/thud before the bike would engage or disengage when on or off throttle was thought to maybe be...
I was just infomed by my mech that my clutch basket should be replaced.
My bike has 26k miles of smooth riding, clutch was never dumped to pop a wheelie etc.
Last bike that I got up to that mileage had clutch "as new" (as possible) when inspected (a ninja 650r).
The reason I brought the bike...
Yeah, it is.
I went for +1 up front for better MPG figures and didn't notice any change.
I did, however, notice a huge drop in acceleration that I wasn't expecting (I've done this before on other bikes)
since the 1st gear is so tall and it became even worse then.
Stock front is 16T.
I've had 17T for about 6000 miles and saw no change in mileage, it's down to the wrist.
Also, under 500 revs of difference cruising makes virtually no difference.
I went back to 16T next chain swap. Bike was too sluggish in 1st and 2nd, even if I usually ride rather calmly.
If you'd read the original post again, you'd notice that the front sprocket was
already an aftermarket one, and was silent, but yeah, that makes noise too
even if it's a different kind of noise.
Well, the chain was too tight.
Properly adjusted most of the sound went away, but the Regina chain has a
specific sound for sure, so, yeah, I guess everything is ok.
One yamaha dealership changed the chain and set the alignment, I looked at it
and it seemed fine. It WAS a bit too tight but not by much. I haven't checked
the slack yesterday, I will in the next 30 mins or so, it's been raining for a
while now.
Again, the alignment seemed fine after changing...
Excuse the massive title.
I was just on a 1000 mi+ trip with my FZ6 S2 and figured out in the first 200
miles that my chain was shot (I know). A few links seized up after 2 hours in
the rain and I tried to loosen it up with some WD40 and motor oil after but not
much I could do, the...
That's exactly what my friends FZ6 sounded like when he put on LEO pipes.
Also, mine as it gets older and the exhaust is definitely getting louder is also
moving to that direction. Another friend with a ZX6R and a MIVV pipe, same thing.
Perfectly normal from what I can tell.
Using the DB...
Best fix that I found for my last bike was.. buying a new chain.
This one creeps up on you and you'd never think it can cause the bike to be
acting like this (surging too) but it makes sense when you think about it.
I get around 43MPG on my stock naked bike with a topcase riding like a sane
person around town, 2500-4500 revs. My friend on a FZ6 with a fairing had
about the same even if he usually rides a gear lower.
First he put on a leovince exhaust.. 2-3MPG drop, could be due to twisting the...
