Hi gang,

Been a huge (quiet) fan of the forums for a while... lurking in the back alleys and collecting intelligence from the rest of the brain trust :D. Figure the rain in NY has got to stop eventually, so its time to start playing w/ my new FZ.

My initial ideas are cosmetic; as I save for performance (hey the bike is still new).

-Powerbronze Bellypan (paint metal part blue to match 09)
-Powerbronze Double Bubble (Dark) shield (I'm just under 6')
-Blue rim strip tape (Pro Grip)
-New grips (anything to help w/ vibration >5k rpm)
-Evotech frame/spindle sliders

Was going to get a K&N Air Filter, but enough reading shows there may no benefit w/o other major changes.

-Oh, also have Shogun frame sliders already - wife tested them :spank: and they did their job 110%.

And before I get yelled at for 'useless w/o pics' - I will post as I start the work (IF it ever stops raining).

Thanks to everyone who has indirectly taught me much about the FZ thus far!!! :america:

:welcome: Metallicat.
Listen to Victorb, the potholes are insane after winter.
Where in NYC are you? I'm on Greenwood Heights, 21st and 5th Ave.
There are a couple more NY/NJ riders planing a ride, hope you and Victorb can make it.

I live near Gravesend/Kings Highway in Brooklyn. Agreed; the potholes on Coney Island Ave alone are enough to destroy any suspension :(.

Great people and a great forum!

It will be nice to watch your baby go for stock, slowly to not. Those are the best kind of pictures!

Welcome.
Good luck with the bike. The k&N has one advantage over stock.
It will last the lifetime of your engine if maintained.

Welcome to the board! I'm curious.. do you keep your bike outside? People of Brooklyn don't have much respect for OPP, from my experience (lived there for 14 years).

My first job was at a laundromat on 9th, between 5th and 6th... about 22 years ago.

I used to go to Bally Total Fitness on Coney Island and Kings.. way back when it was Jack LaLanne and then Bally's Jack Lallane.

Yep I'm 10 min walk from Bally's... but I don't go there - have a small home gym. Also, I work in Weehawken NJ.

I do keep it outside but in a parking lot/area I rent for my car (behind a house). Yeah the super next door to me had his Ninja 250 stolen twice (after its been knocked over, sat on, etc.)... def not super bike friendly place.

I will put up some picks of stock, I didn't think people wanted to be bored w/ another dark blue Fazer .

Also forgot I'm trying to get the
-in house (Larry's) FE kit, when available
-and those cheap eBay levers (mostly because the clutch reach kills me after 30 min)

:welcome: This is a great forum.
You guys in NYC are crazy. I rode to the city once on my KLR (I work in West Village), i think that was the biggest test for the suspension, and The Tractor has plenty of it too. Now my fiance is asking if I would consider living in the city (Manhattan) for a few years :spank: but... but... i want to RIDE.

Btw, two weeks ago i was getting on Metro-North at 125th st and I could swear i saw an FZ6 with yellow headlights with 2-up. I was running for the train so I didnt have time to look. Wonder if it's anybody from this forum.

Love my eBay levers.. have had them for a while now. Just keep in mind that if you go with shorty version, while reach-adjustable, it will actually increase the effort, which sucks in traffic.

Its a Fieldsheer Supersport (1.0) - there's a (2.0) version out now, looks physically the same. Its excellent, but def not for warm weather because it'll cook you. Vents help, but you need some speed.

Speaking of the levers, the clutch didn't fit because of the copper/brass cylinder in the pivot bore, which they tell me should come out, but I've practically used a hammer w/ no luck... arguing for a replacement w/ the seller now.
